Well, the season six cast photos are out http://blogs.amctv.com/photo-galleries/mad-men-season-6-cast-photos/cooper-pete-joan-don-roger.php and clearly I’m going to have to rethink my Joan dress. I’ll just whip up this little number.

Anyone working on the challenge? Seen the new photos?

Season Six begins April 7.

Happy Sewing!!

CharMEUUUUse

Image

I just want to swim in this fabric. I call it satin, because I call everything shiny either satin or silk, but apparently it’s Charmeuse (my iPhone capitalized it, so I’m leaving it that way. Don’t wanna argue.). I just love saying it.
By the way, ankle/wrist weights make awesome pattern weights. Yet another piece of unused exercise equipment I’ve reallocated for sewing.
Love and hugs and lotsa sewin’!!!

Photo A Day. One o’clock

Image

20130111-000605.jpg

It’s a one o’clock world in ye olde cubicle. I’m very fortunate to love my job, and it definitely pays the fabric (and shoe) bills. Ever-present Diet Coke, some yummy chickpea thing that a co-worker made for me, my beloved new hat, stacks of slides that need to be screened, and my gorgeous microscope. Life is good.

Absolutely loving this Photo A Day Challenge.

Photo a day January 2013: Inject a little fun into your everyday!

Big hugs and enjoy your weekend. Lots of sewing projects to finish and photograph coming soon!

Photo A Day

Thanks to the creative wonder that is Kat at Modern Vintage Cupcakes (http://macskakat.wordpress.com) and Photo A Day hostess Fat Mum Slim (how awesome is that name), I am jumping into the Photo A Day Challenge. My sweetie and I document everything, so this should be fun.

The website if you want to join in on the fun is http://fatmumslim.com.au/photo-a-day-january-2013-inject-a-little-fun-into-your-everyday/

Today’s topic is Paper. Conveniently I just started the tracing and cutting process on my Tiramisu, so there’s plenty of paper all over my dining room table.

The Tiramisu sewalong just started yesterday, so there’s still time to hop in:

Enjoy the paper.

Feelin Blousey

For some reason I decided to begin three blouses simultaneously last night (because I don’t have enough UFOs and WIPs). And it took ALL evening to trace all of those pieces, especially the seam-allowance-free Burda. I’m hoping that the hard work will pay off and that these pieces will be reused multiple times. Look, Anne, I’m trying that crazy Rowley pattern, but with something slippery enough to hopefully combat the Pleat of Doom. The purple that I’m using for the Burda is from my last Mystery Bundle. Two yards of yummy purple satin. Nice.

I’m way behind on responding to comments and making comments to your posts, but I’ll catch up soon. I really appreciate your generous feedback, and I’m loving what you blogoddesses are putting out there. You all rock my world.

Later,
Shel

Happy Birthday to me and Camilla Parker Bowles. I can only aspire to her fascinator-wearing greatness. 🙂 Peace and love to you all!! I feel blessed.

Retail therapy at Goorin Brothers on Newbury Street in Boston last month. Love the color on this one.

Also on Newbury Street after purchasing said hat.

Slightly askew brand new BIG red sun hat after putting on the camera… Just got this one for my birthday. You will see it again.

P.S. Just got home to a present from myself in the mail. My Macaron pattern for next month’s Colette 2.0 sewalong. Yea!

Hemmin Away

Working on a bathing suit cover up for a friend. Am I sick for actually enjoying making a narrow hem?? 🙂

If it turns out, I’ll write more. Gotta get the word out that New Look 6051 is the exact pattern you’ll see in every beach store for major bucks. Just make it in something sheer instead of silk/satin and you got yourself a gorgeous cover up. If you have a vivid imagination, look at my Dress 5 and see for yourself. Butterfly sleeves, built-in belt, etc. Fun fun.
