Ooh, I can hear the francophones cringing at my bad French. You should year my pronunciation. I’m trying to say something along the lines of ‘let the good times of sewing roll’.
It’s a double cause for celebration. Today, February 11, is the one-year anniversary of the first time I threaded a sewing machine. Since then it’s been chaos and mayhem, and lots of laughs and support from the blogoddess community. There will be a giveaway soon to properly observe this momentous occasion, so stay tuned!!!
Celebration number two is that it is Mardi Gras, and as mutuated as it has gotten over the years, it still brings back memories of the absolute wonder that is New Orleans, at any time of the year. What a delicious culture. You must go at least twice in your life if at all possible.
Luckily I have some Mardi Gras mask cotton, and a Gertie pencil skirt pattern from her book, so I can make something to wear roughly one day a year. I did my own version of her skirt. No waistband, since I have no waist, plus I was doing a full lining and thought it looked finished and neat enough.
Regular zipper, nifty blue lining, really happy with how it all came together.
Here she is in all her glory, beads and all
I love how form-fitting it is with the four front and two back darts. Flattering front and back, or at least I feel purty in it.
Enjoy the Deep Purple documentary in the background…
More random fun with beads, as I keep my patient boyfriend/photographer up past his bedtime…
Happy Tuesday of Fatness, y’all
